Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis received the Woman of Influence Award from the Cobb County Democratic Committee in a Friday gala aimed at attracting political donations.
Willis was confirmed as an attendee by the Cobb County Democratic Committee’s acting chair Essence Johnson, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, which reported Willis “was honored with the Woman of Influence Award.”
Video purportedly recorded during the gala shows Willis received applause from the Democratic audience during remarks she delivered after receiving the award.
During those remarks, Willis appeared to reference testimony she delivered during the attempt to disqualify her from the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.
“Don’t this dress look good y’all?” The district attorney questioned, then stated, “That’s what happens when you keep cash in the house.”

Defendants in the Trump case asked for Willis to be disqualified after the discovery of her affair with Nathan Wade, the married defense attorney who she formerly appointed as her special counsel to oversee the Trump case.
In addition to witnesses who alleged Wade and Willis became romantically linked in 2019, records from Wade’s business credit card revealed he spent luxuriously on vacations the couple shared.
Willis insisted she repaid Wade for the vacations in unreported cash transactions. She additionally claimed she repaid Wade by drawing from significant cash reserves she keeps at her home, which she claimed is a racial characteristic she developed after hearing stories of alleged racism experienced by her father.
Judge Scott McAfee ultimately determined Fulton County must choose whether Willis or Wade will remain on the case, and Wade resigned shortly after.
McAfee has since allowed multiple defendants to appeal his disqualification decision, which the attorney who unearthed Willis’ affair with Wade predicted will take about six months once the appeal is formally accepted.
A promotional price sheet for the Epicenter of Intelligence: A Night of Power and Impact event held by the Cobb County Democrats reveals sponsorships for the evening started at $2,500, with big spenders able to upgrade to a Platinum sponsorship for $5,500. Advertisements for the gala similarly ranged from $200 to $550.
The standard ticket price for entry to the gala was $175, with early purchasers paying $150. Prices for tables were $1,500 and $3,000.
